Group
Program
It is critical
that children with autism learn how to learn in group settings.
Group settings also provide social exposure and the opportunity
to develop and teach social skills. Autism Partnership
provides a variety of groups according to age and ability
level to meet the different needs of our students.
Content
of Groups
Every
group is individualized with high staff ratio of 1:2
to meet the unique needs of different children. Usually,
there is time dedicated to free play, as well as time
where we structure activities and discussion to teach
a particular social skill. There is an ongoing emphasis
on learning via observation of peers, rather than through
adult direction.
Through
groups, we teach social skills in a fun way, with an
emphasis on systematic acquisition of skills through
structured activities. To learn new social skills,
the children are provided with individualised goals
and reinforcement at each stage. It’s a model that
allows us to blend heaps of fun with some incredible
learning!
