Speaker Information

Ms. Nurhayati M. Ismail MSc Applied Behavior Analysis, BCBA Senior Case Supervisor Nurhayati M. Ismail holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology from University of Southern Queensland and a Masters of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Before joining Autism Partnership Singapore, she worked with both children and adults in a mental health facility, providing psycho-education and counselling as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Since 2003, Yati has been working with children with autism using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in one-on-one as well as school settings. After completing her supervisory training in our Hong Kong office under the direction of Mr. Toby Mountjoy in 2006, she has conducted staff training, intensive parent education groups as well as various workshops for teachers and professionals, parent consultation and public talks. She also oversees the Little Learners school program and social skills group for children of various ages. Presently, she is a Senior Case Supervisor, providing clinical support and case management to children in Singapore and overseas. She also conducts training, lectures and workshops for parents, schools and professionals in Singapore and internationally. Yati is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Workshops Summary

Co-organised with Universiti Teknologi Brunei, this is a 2-day informative workshop designed to give participants an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the most updated information on its available treatments. As disruptive behaviours may be common amongst autistic children, making sure an autistic child gets the treatment he or she needs can be challenging. This workshop will cover effective steps to help caregivers, educators and parents manage a child’s challenging behaviours and develop his or her motivation to speak.

Workshops Details

      • Understanding Autism and the Current Treatments Available
Autism is the fastest growing disorder in the world. There is much misinformation surrounding the diagnosis, what is the most effective treatment and what are the causes of autism. This workshop is designed to provide the most up to date information on what we know about the diagnosis and how to treat it. In an effort to separate fact from myths, we will utilize research and current scientific findings in our presentation.
      • Behavior Management
It is very common to find individuals with autism exhibiting disruptive behaviors. These challenges can be incredibly difficult for families and educators. If their problems are not dealt with, they may persist into adulthood and significantly reduce their quality of life. Behavior modification is often seen as an outdated or basic method. However, its application can be complex and requires extensive training to achieve good results. This topic is designed to give participants an overview of effective procedures that can be used with all ages and functioning levels. The case studies presented will illustrate how to work on behavior issues in various locations.
      • Developing Spontaneous Language
Children with autism can often have difficulties communicating with others. This becomes especially apparent when looking at spontaneous speech. In this lecture, we will examine a range of ideas designed to increase a student spontaneous speech and interaction in different social and play settings.
      • Complimentary Parent Consultation
During this seminar, we will be offering complimentary 1-to-1 consultations for interested parents in Brunei. Parents can make an appointment to speak to our Behavior Consultant to share their concerns and learn more about our recommendations. **AS SLOTS ARE LIMITED, APPOINTMENTS ARE ON FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVE BASIS** This workshop and parent consultation meetings are strictly for adults only.

The center provides one-on-one personalized education to ensure rich learning experiences which incorporates ABA principles to teach language, communication, appropriate play skills, self-help skills and academics.
